Dansk Guldsmede-Håndværk vintage art glass bowl | Denmark, 1960s
An elegant mid-century Danish vintage art glass bowl, dating from around the 1960s. A refined example of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design, associated with the Danish company Dansk Guldsmede-Håndværk (DGH). Its sculptural form combines substantial, clear glass, soft bluish reflections and the understated elegance characteristic of modernism.
The bowl is crafted from thick, transparent glass with an organic, slightly square silhouette and distinctively rounded edges. Its thick, irregular glass walls refract light beautifully, creating delicate reflections and highlighting the optical depth of the glass.
Originally, glass bowls of this kind were paired with silver lids, creating elegant tableware and interior accessories. This particular piece no longer has its original silver lid, but its sculptural form also makes it a striking standalone design object.
The bowl will complement both modern and classic interiors. A beautiful accent on a coffee table, chest of drawers or desk, it can be used for sweets, jewellery or storing small items. Even when empty, it serves as a decorative glass sculpture.
